Zosia Krasnowolska and Dafydd Williams in their latest gallery space: 76m2 in Pontypool.

April is upon us and it's time for our 4th Ffoton Social of 2017! Thanks to all who have come along so far: numbers are growing and we look forward to another great night this month!

This month we have a short talk by Zosia and Dafydd, the team behind the kickplate project. We've promoted several of their previous exhibitions on Ffoton's event pages so it's a great pleasure to invite them to speak about their approach to discovering, curating and showing work by contemporary photographers from around the world here in Wales.

Our aim is to show that art is not prescribed to one social group, as well as to bring high-quality international photography to places that don’t have a permanent gallery. As part of the project we also search for artists that are perhaps part of the alternative art world. We’d like to help promote new artists, focusing on countries whose art is often overlooked.

The new 76m2 photography gallery in Pontypool

Community analogue Darkroom at 76m2

Join us on 20th April to hear their story of setting up the original Kickplate Gallery in Abertillery and subsequent galleries in Bargoed and, the latest 76m2, in Pontypool. They'll also be bringing along print examples of work shown previously in their gallery spaces. Having attended a few of their exhibitions, we can vouch for some stunning analogue and digital photography examples that will send you away feeling inspired. To date, the couple have exhibited nearly 50 artists from over 20 countries and 3 continents!

You can catch the current studies in blue exhibition showing now at 76m2 in Pontypool until 8th April.

We will also be joined by Mike Scott from popular co-working community and Ffoton supporters Indycube to share some exclusive news on how their new collaboration with Community Union can support freelance and self-employed photographers in Wales through a new model of affordable Union representation and associated benefits.
