The team at The Kickplate Project are making use of the wall space at Market Hall Cinema in Brynmawr to revive a popular series of analogue images they exhibited in 2016.
'I let myself be bird' is an exhibition of photos by Stanka Koleva, a Bulgarian born photographer currently living and working in Berlin, Germany. Stanka grew up in the Black Sea town of Bourgas and has been a photographer since the year 2000. She began taking photographs after inheriting her first camera from her grandfather and learning the printing techniques she uses now from the owner of the last commercial darkroom in Bourgas.
Working with film, medium format cameras and printing the images herself using the gelatin silver process, Stanka creates dream-like, provocative and multi layered images full of light, fluidity and movement. Often ambiguous in their meaning, Stanka's photos leave the interpretation up to the viewer.
Exhibition runs 11 June - 31 July during Market Hall Cinema screening opening times
