At this moment, your state of mind is by nature pure emptiness. This state of mind is not just blank emptiness, it is unobstructed, sparkling, pure and vibrant.

German photographer Nils Karlson’s work is best understood alongside the above passage from the Tibetan Book of the Dead, which describes the honest and undisturbed connection to the environment that Karlson renders in his images.

Separate from ever-growing modern pressures and distractions, the images evoke the simple, pure and joyous state that our mind adopts when faced with a beautiful natural creation, such as the infinitely large and unfathomable oceans of our world. Karlson’s work lets us view two of the everlasting features of our planet, the sea and the sky, through his silent and delicate gaze.

horizons dissolved has been curated by American photographer Keith Mendenhall.

I find my mind walking on plains devoid of the dissonant artefacts of human behaviour.
On these plains, my mind finds solitude, silence, peace.

Gorwelion Hydawdd

Ar y foment hon, mae eich cyflwr meddwl o’i hanfod yn wacter llwyr. Nid dim ond gwacter gwag yw’r cyflwr meddwl hwn, mae’n ddilyfethair, disglair, pur ac egniol.

Caiff gwaith y ffotograffydd Almaenig Nils Karlsson ei ddeall orau wrth ymyl y darn uchod o Lyfr Meirw’r Tibetiaid, sy’n disgrifio’r cysylltiad onest a diymyraeth gyda’r amgylchedd y mae Karlson yn ei gyflwyno yn ei ddelweddau.

Ar wahân i bwysau ac ymyriadau bythol-gynyddol, mae’r delweddau hyn yn cyfleu’r cyflwr syml, pur a llawen sydd gan ein meddwl pan fydd creadigaeth naturiol hardd yn ei wynebu, megis cefnforoedd dibendraw a dwfn ein byd. Mae gwaith Karlson yn ein galluogi i weld dau o nodweddion byth-barhaol ein planed, y môr a’r awyr, drwy ei edrychiad tawel a chain.

Yr oedd "gorwelion hydawdd" wedi'i churadu gan America ffotograffydd Keith Mendenhall

Rwy’n tawelu fy meddwl yn cerdded ar beithiau heb ddim o arteffactau anghytgordus ymddygiad dynol. Ar y peithiau hyn, mae fy meddwl yn canfod tawelwch a heddwch.
— Grace Hannell
