Photographer Emyr Young launches his first book, 'Pembrokeshire - Memory's Hunting Ground' this month at a special event in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire.

Published by Gomer Press, this new book is described by Emyr as autobiographical and self-exploratory:

I was brought up in North Pembrokeshire in a small place called Harmony and spent the first years of my life there until I was eight, so those memories have lingered and the places we used to go as a family. It’s the recollections of places that are the important thing really.

I think it was Cartier-Bresson who said “taking a photograph is aligning your head, eye and heart” and so that was my ethos behind the book. I wanted to look at Pembrokeshire in a different way and avoid the cliché. There are lots of books that have done sunsets, seals and Puffins really well but felt it was time to look at the County in a different way.
— Emyr Young

The photographer and Ffoton co-founder was given free reign to photograph the way he wanted - revisiting places over 18 months and he describes finding new things each time as being key to the work that appears in the book.

The launch event starts 7pm, Friday 14 September 2018.
There will be live music by the Ail Symudiad Band.

Tickets are £5 and available from @AwenTeifi and Ffwrn in Fishguard, Gomer Press in Carmarthen, and on the door.
