ABERFAN 1966
As news of the tragedy that had befallen Pant Glas Junior School in South Wales on the morning of 21 October reverberated around the world, a young American photojournalist approached the New York offices of LIFE Magazine with a moving and unique proposal: to photograph "A Town without Children". That town was Aberfan. The photographer was I.C.(Chuck) Rapoport.

Fifty years on, Cardiff University School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies extended an invitation to Chuck Rapoport to return to Wales and address a symposium based around the commemoration of that fateful day.
