THE EXPRESSIVE LAND - Seen through a ground glass screen
by photographer Pete Davis is now on the walls of Ffotogaleri y Gofeb in Machynlleth and open to the public.
Drawn from several major bodies of work made over a period of thirty years, ‘The Expressive Land - Seen through a ground glass screen’ reflects Pete Davis’ interest in the landscape and particularly the sometimes-intangible relationship with the land and those who have lived and worked within it for several millennia.
“These images draw upon many of the motifs that make up the climate and topography of the rural environment and attempt to illuminate, rather than illustrate the many ideas and feelings that passing through the landscape can bring to us.”
Representing Pete Davis in Wales, the gallery has a selection of original prints available to purchase in addition to other rare books by the photographer.
Accompanying this exhibition and prints, a new large format book ‘The Expressive Land’ features 100 analogue photographs drawn from Pete Davis’ extensive archive of fifty years.
The book (11" x 13") is a limited edition hardback signed by the photograpger and is available from Ffotogaleri y Gofeb and Pen’rallt Gallery Bookshop just three doors away.
