TODAY... "THE WORST THING IS THE ABILITY TO TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES"

Making a return to Wales from his home in New York to oversee preparations and the launch of his Retrospective exhibition "Chalkie Davies Photographer: The NME Years" in National Museum Wales (running May 9 to September 6, 2015), Sully-native Chalkie kindly took time out of a hectic schedule for a couple of hours to talk with Ffoton Wales.

Respected for his images of famous pop and rock artists from the 1970's and 80's for publications The NME and The Face, Chalkie created some special distinctive work in a special period of music history - and toured with Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney and Thin Lizzy .

But we mutually chose to spend a couple of fascinating hours talking photography, lighting, Art and mentoring new talent. Enjoy.

Bydd ei arddangosfa yw gweld yn Amgueddfa Genedlaethol Cymru o Fai'r9fed tan y 6ed o Fedi 2015. Mae gwreiddiau Chalkie yn Sili Penarth a diolch yw haelioni er y cyfnod prysur cafodd Ffoton Cymru/Wales dwy awr o'i gwmni yn ddiweddar.

Y mae parch mawr yw luniau du a gwyn o artistiaid roc a pop y 70'ai a'r 80'ai. Fe ymddangosodd lluniau Chalkie Davies yn yr NME a'r Face yn ystod y cyfnod arbennig hwnnw yn hanes cerddoriaeth. Fe deithiodd gyda'r mawrion Elvis Costello Paul McCartney a Thin Lizzy.
