Peter Finnemore is a long established, and much respected, Welsh photographic artist based in south-west Wales. His work has long explored memory, family, culture and history, and his deeply immersive, thirty-plus year Gwendraeth House project is ongoing.

Peter studied photography at both Degree and Post-graduate levels at Glasgow School of Art under Thomas Joshua-Cooper, before gaining a Masters in Fine Art, Photography at the University of Michigan.

He represented Wales at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005, and his work has been shown widely in both solo and group exhibitions in the UK and internationally, and in published titles ‘Gwendraeth House’ , ‘Zen Gardener, and ‘Silent Village’.

Ffoton were delighted to speak to Peter as our first in-person conversation since the Covid-19 lockdowns in Wales, at Gwendraeth House - his family home, in Carmarthenshire. A very enjoyable day with a very passionate photographer.

Ffoton had the pleasure of talking with Welsh photographer, educator and, from 2017 the Honorary Research Fellow at the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff, Paul Cabuts.

With a long career in photography education in Wales and having returned after two years as Director of the Institute of Photography at Falmouth University, Paul is a respected authority on the development of photography in Wales. We discuss the history and education of photography in Wales to the present day; Paul's book on the legacy of W. Eugene Smith's work in Wales in the 1950's; and his current research at Museum Wales which includes the work of David Hurn.

Based in the sleepy town of Laugharne in South West Wales, Seimon Pugh-Jones' passions for photography, Militaria and History have combined at various points in his career.

He has worked for the Ministry of Defence in the UK, stills photographer on documentaries for The History Channel, advise behind the camera on Steven Spielberg's blockbuster Saving Private Ryan and even advise and appear on camera (wielding a camera) in Spielberg's and Tom Hanks' acclaimed American war TV miniseries Band of Brothers.
