Claire Thomas : Conflict photojournalism

Claire Thomas is a photojournalist and fine art photographer from Wales, currently based in New York.

A graduate in Politics from the University of the West of England, her photojournalism work is focused on issues surrounding political and military conflicts, human rights, and humanitarian and environmental crises. From within the camps that emerged from the refugee crisis in Europe to the frontlines in the battle against ISIS in Iraq, Claire has covered a range of stories in various countries, contributing images and photo essays to leading newspapers, magazines and news agencies worldwide.

Claire's clients include The New York Times, The Sunday Times, Geographical Magazine, The Guardian, National Geographic Magazine, Greenpeace Magazine, Al Jazeera and Newlines Magazine, among others.

Claire featured in a Ffoton podcast conversation back in 2017 but has travelled extensively around the world on numerous assignments since then. We're delighted and honoured to have this very talented Welsh photographer join us live from New York to share some of her more recent work and discuss the role of photojournalism, Award nominations and her other photography.

There will be an audience Q&A and discussion.

As Ffoton receives no funding, this online guest talk has a nominal ticket price of £3.00 to help cover our Zoom fees.
